Two Rivers Bike Ride.

With light winds forecast today it was time to pack a picnic and head out on the bikes again:) Leaving our house at 10.50 we went down to the prom turning left and going all the way to the Ferry stopping by the River Deben mouth to collect a little coal and watch the yachts coming and going as the tide was high! We get a phone call from Peter and Gill Cutts saying they and in Felixstowe and are going to the Ferry café for breakfast but sadly it doesn’t look like our paths will cross today:( It’s then out on the river path past the house boats to Kings Fleet, there is a lot of bird watchers about, perhaps something has been spotted? We carry on to Fakenham church were we stop for a cuppa and enjoy the view. On the move again we go to Kirton, then Trimley along the busy A14 bike track to Levington Village and onto the River Orwell via Levington creek, it was very pretty as the tide was now very high, we then stopped by the little beach by the marina entrance where I launch my windsurfer and stop for our picnic. The river was very busy with yachts and wakeboarders, with even a family crabbing:) We were there well over an hour eating our salad and reading our books, we even had a visit from a lovely Ringed Plover who came very close to us!!! The light wind was blowing from our right switched to our left and picked up! Carrying on to the marina toilet we spotted Andy Mexome and wife and had a chat with them before setting off home past Loompit Lake and a long our favourite tree lined track. When we got home we had sadly missed Roger and Maureen Vickers who dropped off some home grown salad and books to read when we are in France next !! shame we missed them:( Mag then made a desert for Linda Hurrell’s 63rd birthday BBQ this afternoon while I checked out the windsurfing conditions – still too light.

PS - just got back from Linda's BBQ :) lovely night with some lovely people! Top cake made by Hannah and top cooking by Craig !!!
